Sound Supervisor - BBC Scotland Feb 2014 – (ongoing) In Feb 2014 I returned to my substantive role of Sound Supervisor working across many productions including The MOD, Hogmanay, Authors Live, Political conferences, flagship News programmes including Reporting Scotland, An La and Newsnight Scotland. I joined the BBC initially as a Sound Operator in Edinburgh before moving onto the Supervisor role, I was sub-contracted to the Scottish Parliament Broadcast Unit recording and broadcasting Main chambers debates and Parliamentary Committees on and offsite. During this period I was also operational on many OBs & studio based programmes including the ‘Saturday Show’, ‘Floor Show’ as well as major OBs international football and rugby and TITP and the Pope’s Visit. In 2002 I began operating as a Boom op on ‘River City’, sound assisting on sports OBs and studio programmes such as ‘Live & Kicking’, ‘Saturday Show’, ‘Offside’, ‘Sportscene’ , ‘The Raven’ & Children In Need. When BBC Scotland leased an OB truck from Arqiva in 2007 Andrew took on further duties of Telex guarantor for many of BBC Scotland's Sports OBs including Bowls, Rugby and Football covering International and Domestic events such as Melrose 7s.

In 1988 I joined Radio Lollipop Edinburgh as volunteer visiting sick children on the wards. Shortly after this I was invited to be the Stations Chief Engineer a role I continued until 2002. I was responsible for the maintenance of the charities studio and roadshow equipment.

Recording and editing teaching and promotional videos for University Depts. Maintenance and operation of 3 camera Studio duties included Sound mixing, camera op, vision mixing and occasionally directing small productions. Whilst employed at The University I also undertook Evening classes in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Having studied A.V. Technology & Photography, Film & TV for 2 years I was employed as an A.V. Technician at George Watsons College providing A.V. facilities throughout the School including 16 film projections, video replay and assisting pupils with filming projects. I was also the staff lead in the School Pipe band teaching and playing the bagpipes. Whilst employed at The University I also undertook Evening classes in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
