My primary role at Evolution-Internet is meet with clients and ascertain their requirements for web projects of all scales and propose solutions to their business needs. These included identifying the goals of the site or web application, devising an interface that will lead to the highest number of conversions, and building a design around this. My role also involves fine tuning the code of the site itself to be accessible and comprehensible to major search engines, while remaining ethically sound. I regularly audit sites and made recommendations of the best course of action for SEO, sometimes involving undoing “black hat” SEO techniques implemented by competitors. Other aspects of my role include project management and client relationship management.

At LBFRS I was responsible for conceiving, designing, developing and implementing the Intranet and Internet sites.The intranet system I developed allows departments to upload, edit and manage their own documents.The system was rooted in the 150 year old traditions of the Brigade. I designed a range of XP style icons to simplify the process of finding information. I also wrote help files and training packages to ease the transition between the new and old systems. Both sites were developed with accessibility in mind.

During my time at ThinkBiggar I was responsible for the design and art direction of all major clients, while giving creative direction to all other projects. I regularly met with key clients to discuss projects of all sizes. My duties covered concept development, web design, print design, flash animation, interface design and music composition. ThinkBiggar operates throughout the UK, and operates in other capacities in Zambia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan and elsewhere. Clients included small and large businesses, and projects ranged from websites and other marketing materials to in one case, the design of a restaurant brand, including logo, copywriting, interior design and menus along with the technical infrastructure of a PDA based ordering system.

Worked on the redevelopment of the Consumer Website, Bank Website, Corporate Intranet and IFA Extranet. While here I was required to know Dreamweaver 4, Fireworks 4, HTML, DHTML and the Scottish Widows custom content management system (CMS) Liaised with staff involved with the Corporate Intranet, a project I was heavily involved with. I also Designed small self contained mini sites for presentations Co-Wrote Dreamweaver handbook for staff members involved in updating the Corporate Intranet My role also encompassed testing a large number of pages and documented errors.
